Hello_World

Released: 2017 (Double Vinyl — limited edition of 250 copies, with an unusual double groove on Side 4)

The Concept

Hello_World is 1201_Alarm’s ambitious debut album – an experimental fusion of electronic jazz, spoken word, and scientific ideas.

For this unique record, bandleader Steve Thompson travelled across the UK and beyond to interview some of the world’s most brilliant scientists, skeptics, and thinkers. Each track is inspired by these conversations, turning complex ideas into immersive sonic journeys.

A Mission Beyond Earth

Hello_World made headlines when it was loaded onto Astrobotic’s Peregrine lunar lander – aiming to become the first musical album to reach the Moon. Although the mission sadly failed to land successfully, the project remains a powerful symbol of 1201_Alarm’s mission to push music, science, and curiosity beyond the limits of our planet.
